Moros y Cristianos

The fiesta of the Moros y Cristianos is one of the most widely celebrated fiestas in Spain and celebrates the banishment of the Moorish conquerors by the forces of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabela in the 1492 after a 700-year rule. Bright and brash, loud and garish, the Moros y Cristianos is a gaudy parade of silks and satins, peacock plumes and baggy eastern pants...

For seven months I followed the development of the Moros y Cristianos Fiesta in Vilajoyosa, a small coastal town in the Costa Blanca. Come back each month to see how it progresses.
