Variations are only acceptable if agreed by both parties in writing. Completing and submitting the brief assumes that these notes have been read, understood and agreed. Photographs. Photographs featured on this web site are copyrighted. All photographs are in digital format (300dpi) and are available for purchase independently of a commissioned article. The photographic archive covers subjects other than those illustrated by my articles. Fees. Fees are variable by copyright, stock or commissioned article. For stock items Full payment is due on purchase. For commissioned material A non-refundable 50% payment in advance is required, the balance being paid within 10 (ten) days of the date of publication. In the event of a delay in publication the balance will become due after 30 days of the original publication date. If the publication date is further delayed rights revert to the author and a fee of 25% of the value of the article will become due and payable. Fees are based on the understanding that the standard length of an article is between 1000 and 1200 words. Variations are accommodated by negotiation and agreement. Fees are for articles only. Stock articles usually include supporting photographs as a value add and free of charge. There will be no reduction of fees if photographs are not required. Editing It is accepted that Editors may need to edit material to fit the house style of the magazine or space available, no substantial edits or alterations to the form and content of the article are to be made without the author's specific agreement. Those Editors with specific queries regarding content or revision should contact the author directly to discuss a mutually agreeable format. Rights. All copyright and publishing rights remain with the Author, publication rights being allowed as below. All Rights Refer to publication in a single issue in a named periodical. Re-publication in the same periodical, other periodicals owned by the company, on the internet or any a media form owned by the publishing company constitute an additional purchase to which a separate fee will apply. Rights available for each article will be supplied on request. First Rights Allow for the first publication of original material in a specific country or geographical location (as agreed between the purchaser and the author) whether it be a Stock Item or Commissioned. This can also be determined by the type of periodical in which the material is to appear and whether it can be offered to another periodical of a different genre without affecting the market of the original buyer. Second Rights Assume that the material has been published at least once in the country, geographical location or periodical genre. Commissioning letter Unless otherwise agreed upon, the completion of this commissioning letter accepts the terms and conditions of the author.
